Used to determine or verify optical-system performance or numerical tolerance (resolution) in photographic technology.
◦The number of line pairs (pairs of lines) per millimeter doubles every seventh target element. (One line pair consists of a dark line and a bright line.)
◦One group is made up of two patterns (each consisting of three line pairs) running in two directions that are at right angles to each other.
◦Comprised of groups 0 to 6.
◦Positive and negative targets are available as the USAF resolution test targets.
