Fresnel Lenses
The Fresnel lens, as the name implies, was pioneered by Augustin-Jean Fresnel. It is a series of concentric annular sections with curved profiles that, if extruded and connected to the neighboring section, would form the same curvature as a conventional lens. The Fresnel lens is typically used in illumination applications, the most famous is in lighthouses along the ocean shore. Fresnel lenses save space and weight compared to conventional lens, but are not suitable for imaging applications due to the discontinuities. We also manufacture custom solutions in case one of our many standard lenses do not meet your requirements.
