Our piezomotor actuator provides both long travel and nanometer resolution for these Horizontal (Flat) Z axis steel translation stages. The in-line piezomotor actuator utilizes an internal pivot mechanism to enable vertical translation.

Details

One of the key benefits of piezomotor actuation is that the static friction, which is in effect when the piezomotor is not operating, also acts like a locking mechanism which ensures excellent stability. Another convenient feature of these actuators is that the electrical cable is removable from both the actuator and the controller. Please note that these actuators do not have internal feedback and therefore are open-loop. Vacuum compatible versions are available. If your application needs different specifications we can customize our piezomotor actuators to your unique requirements.

Remark	The cable used to connect the piezomotor actuator to a controller, like the PDM-ID-02 or the PAM-104, is included with the stage.
Attention	This translation stage type is not suitable for inverted use. In this condition, all load would be pulling against the spring. The stated load capacity is only for the implied orientation of travel, e.g. x-axis stages are specified for horizontal orientation. Regarding 25x25 and 40x40mm size stages, please do not apply heavy load toward the rotating (yawing) direction, as it may damage the stage. These stages use a pivot mechanism to transfer horizontal motion to vertical motion. This mechanism induces a small non-linearity between the distance the micrometer moves and the distance the stage platform moves. Contact our Sales Division for more information.
