Our history

1977: The Birth of SigmaKoki

SigmaKoki Co., Ltd. was created in Tokyo, Japan in 1977. Fast forward 40+ years and SigmaKoki is the leading Japanese manufacturing company for precision Optics, Optical Systems and Opto-Mechanics. The company owns and operates four production facilities. Three in Japan, (All ISO 9001 and 14001 Certified) and 1 in Shanghai, China. Our motto follows three important words, Appreciation, Challenge, and Creation. Through creation, we follow a Japanese word, “Monozukuri” that can be defined as the art, science, and craft of manufacturing. We strive and challenge ourselves to create solutions that enable new technologies for a better tomorrow and a brighter future.

1995: OptoSigma Corporation

SigmaKoki’s first expansion outside of the Asian market was in 1995 when OptoSigma Corporation was created in Santa Ana, California. Our Southern California facility is 18,500 square feet and incorporates class 1,000 clean rooms and class 100 working environments. We design and manufacture Optical Coatings and have upwards of 100 standard coating designs, along with the ability to design and manufacture the most demanding custom films, all under one roof. Additionally, we manufacture Opto-Mechanical Assemblies for a variety of industries and applications. Along with our manufacturing activities, our sales and engineering staff are standing by to support your most demanding requirements.

2014: OptoSigma Europe

OptoSigma pursued its expansion into Europe by setting foot in Paris, France. Our desire was to expand the promotion of the OptoSigma brand to the European market. Our sales and engineering staff are all experienced in photonics to support a large variety of industries and applications. OptoSigma Europe continues to grow and recently opened a engineering design department in house.

2017: E-Commerce Website

Following the globalization trend and understanding a need from the market to have easier access to information, OptoSigma launched its e-commerce website in 2017, enabling global online purchasing of our products and services. With that in mind, we also know that the right product can be a variable for your application. This is why we have a no questions asked 30-day return policy for most standard products. Furthermore, our web team never stops updating and optimizing our site to give our customers the best experience possible. So let us know your feedback to help with your online user experience !

2024: OptoSigma Germany

OptoSigma opened a new office in Munich, Germany, in April 2024. This is the company's first office outside of France since its European division was established in 2014. The new office will serve customers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

This is done with the most sophisticated lineup of metrology equipment and stringent quality standard found anywhere. From a complete suite of Interferometers, 3D-Profilers, Atomic Force/Electron Microscopes, Auto-Collimators, Spectrophotometers and much more.
