◦ Les impuretés et les défauts cristallins ont été réduits et les caractéristiques de transmission dans la région ultraviolette ont été augmentées. CaF₂ est utilisé pour la plage allant de l'ultraviolet à l'infrarouge.
◦Par rapport à d'autres cristaux, CaF₂ a une grande durabilité à l'humidité, et il peut être traités de la même manière que les éléments optiques généraux.
◦Puisque CaF₂ est un cristal isotrope, la biréfringence (caractéristiques de polarisation) ne se produit pas.
